Andrey Kryukov, Chief otorhinolaryngologist of the Moscow Department of Health, noted that loud music “rejuvenated” the appearance of sensorineural hearing loss among Muscovites. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
The specialist said that in 2021, about 70 thousand hearing studies were conducted at the Sverzhevsky Clinical Research Institute of Otorhinolaryngology. The results showed that most of the hearing problems were associated with sensorineural hearing loss, which appeared as a result of noise hearing loss caused by the use of various electronic devices for listening to music, Kryukov noted.
The doctor also added that young people use these devices more often. Sound above 85 decibels can lead to noise deafness. Moreover, in some public places, an additional background noise is formed. It affects the ear sound affects the strength of 100-110 decibels. Because of this, noise sensorineural hearing loss in Moscow has greatly “rejuvenated”.
